Welcome to the home of Riverside Welsh Springer Spaniels.  For those of you familiar with us, welcome to our new site.  For those of you new to the world of Riverside, my wife Angela and I welcome you and hope you will return often.  Riverside is located in the heart of Central Virginia, and we can be seen throughout the Mid-Atlantic show circuit in VA and MD, with an occasional trip to NC, SC and GA.  We are members in good standing of WSSCA, and the Greater Chesapeake and Dogwood WSS regional breed clubs.  We are also active members in the Mid-Atlantic Hunting Spaniel Club and the Maryland Sporting Dog Association.  We attend the annual flushing spaniel show in PA sponsored by the American Spaniel Club the first weekend in January each year, as well as participate at Regional Specialties on the East Coast when vacation time and travel logistics work out.

We obtained our first welsh, Savannah - Ch Fairwinds Little Miss Magic CGC TDI, from Ms. Elizabeth Holmes of Fairwinds Welsh Springers.  Savannah was the pick of the litter out of six puppies and was originally headed to Joan Hamaguchi of Bu-Gwyn Welsh Springers (the co-breeder) in California for a show career.  When those arrangements changed, Angela was contacted and offered the opportunity to take Savannah into her home.  Savannah had a respectable show career prior to her first litter.  Most notably was her Best of Breed win as a class bitch over specials at the Virginia Kennel Club in 2001.  She later went on to finish in September of 2002 at the Old Dominion KC and Warrenton KC weekend by earning Best of Winners and Best of Opposite both days.  Savannah went on to multiple Best of Opposite wins at a variety of shows including in April of 2004, where she showed just 6 weeks after whelping her first litter.  The judge that day told Angela that she would have given her Best of Breed if her coat wasn't so wiry.  When Angela told the judge she was just coming out of whelp, the judge was astonished and commented on how lovely she had recovered in such a short period of time.  For more details on our litters and stud availability, please refer to our Litter History.

For those of you who are seeking your first Welsh, we welcome you and encourage you to ask questions as often as you like.  We are certainly not experts on the breed, but we know a number of individuals that are and can answer any questions that we may not be able to.  Currently, we are raising our son Jacob and are limited in the amount of showing we do, but we still find time to work with our three Welsh, Savannah, Tegan and Colin as well as our other pups in the ring and new champions: Diego, Meggan, Gracie, Remy and Brady.  All three of of our Welsh are AKC confirmation champions and Canine Good Citizens (CGC) plus Savannah has her Therapy Dogs Incorporated (TDI) certification. Colin has his Rally Novice (RN), Junior Hunter (JH), 2 legs on his Senior Hunter (SH), a Working Dog Excellent (WDX) certification and a WSSCA Versatility Certificate (VC).

You can see that we keep fairly busy with the dogs and our son; however, we always have time to help answer any questions you may have.  We hope you enjoy our new site design, and we look forward to meeting you in the future at a nearby show and hopefully as a member of the Riverside family.
